CINCINNATI — AssureCare and Pillr Health have formed a strategic partnership to help hospitals and health systems better manage the rising cost and complexity of specialty pharmaceuticals, a category expected to account for most U.S. drug spending by the end of the decade.

The integrates AssureCare’s Akumen analytics platform with Pillr Health’s Pharmacy Accelerator solution, creating a more data-driven framework for health systems to build and optimize in-house specialty pharmacy programs. The combined offering leverages real-time data and AI-driven predictive modeling to help providers anticipate patient needs, allocate resources more efficiently and improve clinical outcomes.

Executives from both companies positioned the partnership as a response to mounting pressure on health systems amid rising specialty drug costs, particularly for the treatment of chronic and complex conditions. Yousuf Ahmad, CEO of AssureCare, said high costs can undermine medication adherence and patient engagement, making it critical for providers to adopt more advanced tools to manage care delivery.

Skip Devanny, CEO of Pillr Health, said the integration enhances the company’s Pharmacy Accelerator platform by enabling more effective patient engagement, closing care gaps and improving pharmacy performance across client organizations.

The combined platform is designed to deliver both operational and clinical insights, allowing health systems to more proactively manage specialty pharmacy workflows while advancing value-based care goals. The companies said the partnership will help drive measurable improvements in cost management, medication adherence and overall care quality, particularly for vulnerable patient populations served through programs such as 340B.

AssureCare, based in Cincinnati, focuses on population health management technology, while Pillr Health provides pharmacy optimization services and supports more than 300 health care organizations nationwide.
